ISBN 1-880810-10-7 (cloth) $42.95, ISBN 1-880810-11-5 (paper) $32.95
This is the newly rewritten and revised version of Fr. Fleming's best selling contemporary reading of the Exercises of Saint Ignatius. It carries on and fosters his original aim of making the text of the Exercises more readily accessible to modern readers, particularly those encountering Ignatius's writings for the first time. This book does this by placing an accurate literal translation and the contemporary reading on facing pages.
1996, PP. ca 320, Series IV, n.17, ISBN 1-880810-20-4 (paper) $16.95
This is Ignatius's response to his followers' request for a "founder's testament and paternal instruction" for the nascent Society of Jesus, an account of how God had guided him from the beginning of his religious conversion. The result is the story of the profound spiritual experiences that changed a young Spanish grandee into a great saint.
1995, PP. xxx + 150, Series I, n.13, ISBN 1-880810-09-3 (paper) $14.25
This is a brief but highly readable account of the story of Jesuit General Congregations 31, 32, and 33, enabling the reader to put the achievements and decrees of those congregations into their human and historical contexts.
1994, PP. viii + 145, Series IV, n.15, ISBN 1-880810-08-5 (paper) $14.95
This book presents all the supplementary guidelines for giving the Exercises that derive from St. Ignatius and other 16th-century Jesuits. Much of the material survived only in manuscript form until the last century, and appears here in English for the first time.
1996, PP. ca 380+, Series I, n.14, ISBN 1-880810-17-4 (cloth) $42.95
ISBN 1-880810-18-2 (paper) $34.95
The story of the educational apostolate of the English Jesuits from the founding of Stonyhurst to the beginning of the first world war. Relying almost entirely on primary sources, this book presents a clear and fascinating picture of an apostolate that was undertaken and made to flourish despite adversity from both the English government and the church hierarchy.
1996, PP. xviii + 243, Series III, n.12, ISBN 1-880810-16-6 (paper) $27.95
An official translation of the documents of the most recent general congregation, held in 1995.
1996, PP. ca 275, Series III, n.14, ISBN 1-880810-19-0 (paper) $13.95
Fr. Tripole examines the background of Decree Four of the Jesuit General Congregation 32, explores the meaning of "justice" as it is used in that document, and concludes that the criteria for ministries that the decree proposes, while noble and challenging, are too narrow to achieve their goal. He then proposes an alternate criterion that goes beyond the "faith and justice" motif and allows for ministries not having a direct justice orientation.
1994, PP. vii + 153, Series IV, n.14, ISBN 1-880810-07-7 (paper) $14.95
This is a casebook, corresponding to Fr. Toner's Commentary on St. Ignatius' Rules for the Discernment of Spirits. It presents concrete cases of discernment, a step-by-step method for studying them, and a proposed solution for each case.
1995, PP. 93, ISBN 1-880810-12-3 (paper) $14.95
This casebook corresponds to the author's Discerning God's Will, and features a series of practical cases of discernment, a method for handling them, and proposed solutions.

Information on recent developments in communication research often is hidden away in hard to locate journals or is presented in articles which give only one side or one theoretical perspective on complicated issues. Communication Research Trends responds to the need for comprehensive, ideologically and theoretically balanced reviews of major questions in communication research. Each issue explains in clear language the major findings of recent research on a particular topic. A comprehensive survey gives the reader a non-judgmental description of research in all significant approaches to that topic. A select bibliography and a worldwide listing of scholars and institutions doing research on the topic follow the survey article. A book review section describes recent books in communication studies.
Intended for church-related communication practitioners and decision-makers, Communication Research Trends has found an enthusiastic audience among prominent communication scholars, who also want the kind of unbiased reviews of the field it offers. Secular editors, producers, writers, and others concerned with human communication have found "Trends" a valuable addition to their reading.
Recent or forthcoming issues have dealt with the social and cultural effects of advertising, with research on audience interpretation of mass media, and with group and participatory communication.

Published three times annually since 1957 by the Vatican Film Library at Saint Louis University, this journal is the library's interface with the international community of manuscript researchers. The journal is devoted to the publication of manuscript-based studies of texts and topics in periods coinciding with the range of periods represented in the research resources of the Vatican Film Library, namely from Classical Antiquity to the eighteenth century. Along with articles by authors from across the U.S., the journal publishes articles by authors in Western Europe, Canada and Oceania, and book reviews by reviewers generally from the same areas. An issue of the journal also typically features a more or less extensive set of editorially prepared short reviews of newly published books on periods and topics represented in the manuscripts duplicated in the Vatican Film Library. Authors may present articles in English, German, French, Spanish, or Italian, and the articles may in turn include editions or citations of texts in medieval and Renaissance forms of those languages as well as in Greek and Latin. There are exchanges with other journals around the world.
